The Heart Flag of South Korea, also known as the Daehan Minguk Tongjihoe (Great Han National Unification Flag), was a temporary national flag used from 1948 to 1949. This design features the Korean taeguk symbol, symbolizing yin and yang, balanced in the center of a red field. The four trigrams surrounding the taeguk represent the four seasons: snow (winter), fire (spring), thunder (summer), and water (autumn). Despite its short-lived status as an official flag, the Heart Flag holds significant historical importance in South Korea's modern history due to its role during the Korean independence movement and the subsequent Korean War.
