The CVW 11 Carrier Air Wing is a unit of the United States Navy that operates as an integral part of an aircraft carrier, specifically on the USS Nimitz. This air wing consists of multiple squadrons, each specializing in different types of aircraft such as fighters (FA-18E Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler), electronic warfare (RC-26 Maritime Reconnaissance and RC-135 Rivet Joint), early warning (E-2 Hawkeye), helicopters (MH-60S Seahawk and MH-60R Helicopter), and Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft (C-2 Greyhound). The CVW 11's primary roles include protecting the carrier group, conducting air operations in support of fleet commanders, and providing air power for joint and combined operations.
