Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2016, UK national band Manic Street Preachers celebrates the 20th anniversary of its masterpiece fourth album, "Everything Must Go," released in May 1996. Everything Must Go" is the band's most ambitious album to date. The band was in the midst of an existential crisis, as their iconic guitarist Richie Edwards (G/lyrics) disappeared after the release of their previous album "Holy Bible" in 1994, and the band decided to move forward with a three-piece lineup. The dark and decadent world of the previous album was transformed into a beautiful sound production with a major impact, including the introduction of strings, and a major shift in everything, including the unadorned visuals. The album was a major step forward in expanding the band's fan base. It produced four UK Top 10 singles, "A Design for Life," "Everything Must Go," "Kevin Carter," and "Australia," and reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart. It was the band's first mega-hit, going double platinum (over 600,000 copies) in the UK alone at the time of its release, and triple platinum (1 million copies) to date.Their smash hit "A Design for Life," which reached #2 on the UK Singles Chart, is a brilliant and enduring (especially for the working class) anthem in the history of UK rock. This release features a newly remastered version on CD1 and a live performance at the Nynex Arena in Manchester on May 24, 1997, which was attended by 20,000 people, on CD2, which shows their passionate live performance at the time of their ascension to an arena band.
